Who is the course for?
This eLearning course is aimed at individuals required to carry out lifting operations or who work with lifting equipment in Great Britain and on the UK Continental Shelf. The course is particularly aimed at those involved in offshore lifting operations.
Is previous experience required?
There is no requirement for prior knowledge or experience before completing this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role.

LOLER was put in place to protect personnel when carrying out lifting operations. This course will give you a basic understanding of what the regulations cover and how lifts can be carried out safely.
The knowledge gained in this course will help you to plan and perform lifting operations safely. It will also indicate how to check that equipment is fit for use.

What standards are referenced in the course?
This course is based upon the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the LOLER Approved Code of Practice (ACOP). The course also references the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR), and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
